Excellent balance of toppings to noodle to broth. The broth was flavorful and rich. Complimentary hot tea was an awesome perk for a rainy day.

Love the food and service is good.But be prepared to wait outside in the cold when its busy.I seriously think they should expand their business with more seating and better waiting areas.

Nice place noodles were not the traditional ramen noodles but they have texture and springiness. I enjoyed the seafood ramen the soup was great. The chicken karaage was really nice and light and juicy. You are expected to order and pay first at the counter before they seat you. Staff are very friendly.

This new ramen place was awesome. I tried seafood ramen this was great. Staffs were friendly. Plenty parking spaces, they take credit cards. Highly recommended.

Donkotsu ramen and Spicy ground pork & tofu ramen were good! But I wasn't satified with the texture of noodle. I think the restaurant should have washed out the noodle with cold water thoroughly. The noodle was a little bit glutinous. Except for that, pretty good restaurant!

Very good experience to order take out during shelter in place. 50% more noodle and one free drink if you order from them directly . Just pour the soup and ready to eat. Good flavor as usual. Very friendly service.

Found this place when we visited Demiya. I tried tonkatsu ramen and chicken karaage, both of them are great. Ramen is tasty and special, it is buckwheat noodle. Need to order first, and staff will arrange seats.

I had an amazing time in this restaurant. We loved the first-rate vibes and the meals. The staff were super amiable. I’m glad we finally managed to visit this spot.

Not a lot of plates - so far no bad choices either. I like this place a lot. Not sharing either.....

Lightning fast service. Broths on the milder side, the donburis have a ton of flavor. The karaage is great too. This is a good alternative to Santouka down the road.

This place is absolutely one of the most attractive restaurants in the area. Always when I come to this place I am greatly happy. They hold their high standard service and the topmost level of cooking they provide. You always win with this restaurant. Warmly recommended.

I really liked my tonkatsu ramen. It was delicious and a good portion. A little unconventional how they have you order and pay first before you sit, but it didn't bother me. They also have a sign up on their front window for fair warning.

I was really surprised at first sip of the tonkatsu ramen! Sooooo delicious!!! While I miss Halu Ramen, Ramen One R1 is super good, friendly service AND they have garlic chips on the table!!!!

First time here, but their Tonkatsu ramen is the best I've ever had! What sets them apart is their rich flavorful broth, al dente noodles, and quality toppings. Perfection in a bowl!

Loved the curry ramen. I added an extra soft boiled egg and spicy paste. The mini donburi daily special was delicious too.

2nd time here last night and the ramen is pretty tasty! I like the buckwheat looking ramen noodles, nice texture too. Nice pork and garlic flavor in their creamy tonkotsu broth! The extra char on their pork gives it a nice smokey flavor too.

Overall a very mediocre ramen experience. Broth lacked depth of flavor and complexity. Noodles were overdone and the karage was under done. The karage was not crispy :(On the plus side, staff was friendly!

Host was not welcoming and kinda rude but the servers were really nice. Tonkotsu broth was a bit watery and not as nice as the last time. The bamboo shoots (topping) were phenomenal. BRING your mayonnaise!! if you order chicken karage as an extra topping to the ramen then they strictly don’t provide mayonnaise......weird!! It’s just mayonnaise.

Cute little place offering great ramen. Place seemed clean. Staff was friendly and service was quick. My husband had Chicken Karaage, he loved it. They have good vegetarian options too. Vegetarian Ramen is must try!

What was I thinking ordering curry in a ramen house? Well I know not to now.. One word SALTY man so salty. I couldn't even finish it. I ordered the dlx curry which came in a bowl one small scoop of rice (only) could have another to cut the saltyness somewhat. But the main ingredients were plentiful.Deep fried calamari, chicken kara-age and few slices of chashu pork and half boiled egg. The last two wasn't salty. To be fair to Ramen R1 since I was the last order of the night and the curry was sitting in a warmer all night it will condense down and become salty but if it was sitting in a walk-in or frozen and thawed out to this then its truely on the person that made that particular batch. So what I have to say to the kichen is check your product before it goes out to the customers.

Great Ramen and great ambiance! I ordered the Tonkatsu Ramen and it was spectacular; creamy flavorful broth and the ramen egg was ~perfection~. Very friendly service and did not seem rushed and stressed even though it was busy. There was a little bit of a wait but the line moved very fast and it was well beyond worth it. The food came out quickly. The atmosphere is very cozy and well designed. I will definitely be back.

Went out on a wing trying this place for the first time!I'll start with the CONS: 1.)There was not a wide variety of Ramen which was quite disappointing as the menu displayed 4 options up top. 2.) They did not carry Wavy Ramen noodles which is my favorite. The white noddle they have is good still, but not the same as the traditional wavy Ramen noodle. 3.) It was a little on the pricey side $$. Each side of spicy chili, noddle or just veggies was more than other places I go to. I actually have been to other places where they give you chili to add at leisure.Now for the PROS: 1.) The younger gentlemen up front was very helpful in helping me select the perfect choice, great service. 2.) When I got my food it was quite delicious for being different from what I am used to for Ramen. Overall decent food!

Balance Tonkotsu Ramen, my family are happy to find this place ~Ramen , karaage are good ~

This is probably the 3rd or 4th ramen restaurant in this location. Semi self serve, order and pay first, has a few variety of ramen and rice dishes. Chose the seafood ramen which came with 3 shrimps and 6 small clams, both ok quality, a couple of the clams had sand and were cooked well done. The soup base was light and reasonably tasty. The noodles were a little above average. The fried chicken was lightly coated, somewhat juicy. Overall, I think a bit above average, ok CP!

Ramen was fairly bland. Service was fine. I likely will pass I'm the future.

It might be my new favorite ramen joint and I’m not saying it lightly as I’ve sampling many ramen places in the Bay Area. But I'd like to try few more menu items that looked good. But they got the basics covered with great Tonkatsu ramen and Takuyaki balls.I loved the simplicity of the decoration and great vibe. I'm excited to come back... Good job!

A bit unconventional where you pay before being seated here, but it was no big deal. Food came out quick once we ordered and it was really good! Definitely a place to check out versus the other ramen places that are usually crowded. Will be back!

This is the real deal. Proper creamy tonkotsu ramen and the pork typing is perfect. Might have to wait at lunchtime but usually quick once seated.

Got to this place half hour early and there was a small line forming already before it opened. We ordered the karage curry and tonkatsu ramen. The curry flavor was okay; I don't think I would order the curry here again. The curry sauce had slight tomato sauce taste to it, they might have used a little ketchup in it for that flavor. Tonkatsu ramen was decently good. The broth was favorful, boiled egg, and ramen was good. The pork was a little too fatty for my taste. If there is a long wait/line, I would pass on coming.

Visited twice now. My new favorite Ramen spot now.Donkotsu soup is one of the best I've tried - including some famous ones in Japan. The chef knows how to cook! Today I tried Curry ramen. It came out with small rice with note! So tasty!

We were craving ramen after a long flight from Maui to SJC and this place really hit the spot. Reasonable prices, cool but unpretentious atmosphere, pleasant service, open late. Ramen 1 to the rescue!

Tried the seafood ramen. Broth is pork based, good amount of clams and shrimp. Also tasted the mini chashu, tasty. Overall a good ramen.

Having a late dinner and was glad to find this ramen place that's open after 9pm. There were quite a lot of selections in addition to ramen. Somehow there was no black garlic soup base on the menu, and it seemed the miso soup base only comes with the vegetarian option (add $ for meat/shrimp).I had the seafood ramen and hubby the tonkotsu; the soups and the ramen texture were good, but we wished there were just one more slice of char siu and more seafood. Overall the ramen was good but not as good as the 4+ star rating suggests.

Delicious ramen, I had the Tonkotsu ramen and my wife the seafoos ramen. Plus a couple of orders of Takoyaki. This place is good and usually has a line (a good sign). I'm not sure if this is standard practice, but on weekend, you have to place and pay for your order, then you will get a table and seated once a table frees up.

Subtlely delicious and properly salted tonkatsu makes this a worthy destination ramen place in the midst of heavy competition. Karage over curry dishes and straight chashu appetizers are very worthwhile.
